SUMMARY:סיור בפרדייזParadise Tour
DESCRIPTION:In the year 2018\, the utopia that Boris Schatz wrote about in his novella “The Rebuilt Jerusalem: A Daydream” (1923)\, is supposed to be fulfilled. A Utopian Jerusalem in which paradise exists; harmonious coexistence with nature and with the Arab residents of the city\, and building of the Third Temple\, which will serve as a museum\, with the consent of the Arab minority. \nThree years prior\, in the year 2015\, at the Hansen House gardens\, Paradise is built – a haven in the middle of the city\, a white façade bounding a garden that has been expropriated from the public. In Paradise\, only one human being at a time can experience the ideal and modern natural living\, leaving the public with a sense of longing\, allowing a sneak peek into a free and peaceful world\, at an affordable price.\nThe entrepreneurs of Paradise Inn have invited an artist to live and create for a month and a half in this daydream – an infinite-star hotel for one\, a slice of nature in the middle of Jerusalem\, in the historical garden of the former Lepers’ House. \nFrom the middle of September\, Paradise’s sole room will be available for rent at an outrageous rate for all interested.\nPlease visit us and reserve your nights: www.paradisehotel.co\nMake your booking now on: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/8228225 \nConcept: Sala-manca\nArchitects: Sala-manca and Nir Yahaom\nInterior Desing: Itamar Mendes-Flohr\nParadise Inn art collection: OZ Malul\, Guy Yitzhaki\, Itamar Mendes-Flohr\, Sala-manca\, Shaul Zemach.\nSouvenirs: Silent Room 1\, Chen Cohen | Room-Kit\, Pessi Komar | A letter for you\, Shiri Zinger\, Elevator to Paradise\, Lior Pinski\nAvantgarde workers: Yuval Galili\, Diego Rotman\, Yeshaiahu Rabinowitz\, Rotem Zuta\, Ayala Shamir\, Ktura Manor\, Lea Mauas\, Chen Cohen\, Galia Lulko\, Nahuel & Ayu\nParadise Inn website: www.paradisehotel.co\nObservation post to Paradise: Conrad Shick

SUMMARY:פיל סולומון: מפגש עם אוצרת התערוכה ד"ר חוה אלדוביPhil Solomon: A meeting with the curator Dr. Hava Aldouby
DESCRIPTION:“Phil Solomon (b.1954) is a prominent American experimental filmmaker. His works have been widely exhibited. Solomon has been shown at the Whitney Biennial of American Art\, the New York Film Festival\, MoMA NY\, Tate Modern\, London\, and innumerable other venues in the US\, Europe\, South America\, Japan\, Hong Kong\, and India. American Falls\, commissioned by Corcoran Gallery\, Washington DC in 2010\, has since been shown worldwide. This 56 minute\, three channel digital video will be the highlight of the exhibition at the Hansen Center. \nThe grandson of Russian Jewish immigrants\, reared in Monsey NY in the aftermath of WW II\, Solomon has been and is to this day a major participant in the American film avant-garde. His works negotiate 20th century history through the history of film itself. In his magnum opus\, American Falls (2010)\, he chemically manipulates iconic moments of American history as these have been presented in period films\, thus weaving a cinematically mediated ironic and anxious look at the American dream. The filmic images drown in a ‘magma’ of molten emulsion in which Solomon finds\, in his words\, ‘the physical anxiety of the form itself’. This is American history told in a way that reflects tensions pertaining to body consciousness\, and to situation in ‘place’.” \nexhibition catalog \ncurator: Hava Aldouby \nopening hours: Sun-Thur 10:00 – 18:00\, Friday 10:00 – 14:00 \nMamuta at Hansen House \nclosing: 31.8

Solomon has been shown at the Whitney Biennial of American Art\, the New York Film Festival\, MoMA NY\, Tate Modern\, London\, and innumerable other venues in the US\, Europe\, South America\, Japan\, Hong Kong\, and India \nIn  his impressive work American Falls (2010)\, he chemically manipulates iconic moments of American history as these have been presented in period films\, thus weaving a cinematically mediated ironic and anxious look at the American dream. \nIn recent works Solomon has shifted to purely digital format\, appropriating videogame sessions as an unexpected source of ‘found footage’.  The In Memoriam trilogy\, which shall be shown at the Hansen House together with American Falls\, presents an unsettling experience of places that are at the same time very familiar and extremely unreal and uninhabitable. \ncurator: Hava Aldouby \nopening hours: Sun-Thur 10:00 – 18:00\, Friday 10:00 – 14:00 \nMamuta at Hansen House \nclosing: 31.8 \nThe exhibition is possible thanks to the generous support of the Ostrovsky Family Fund. With the support of Mamuta Art and Media Center and Hansen House. The catalogue and research for the exhibition were supported by Da’at Hamakom.

SUMMARY:התחרות לאמנות וידאו וקולנוע ניסיוני 2015The Experimental Cinema and Video Art Awards 2015
DESCRIPTION:The Lia van Leer Award\, courtesy of Rivka Saker 12\,000 NIS \nOstrovsky Family Fund Award 8\,000 NIS \nSunday 12/7 19:30 Cinemateque 2 \n \nGOQC \nDir: Yahav Ger \nGOQC is a super quantum computer that comes to life in a world without people. \nAs his consciousness grows\, so does his need for an intelligent being such as his human creators. He puts his hope in the rapid evolution of the synthetic creatures around him – mankind’s remains. \n2014 | 15 min \n \nLady Slaughter & Lord Savage Vegan OR Meat Mutineers \nDir:  Avishai Sivan \nIn this video piece\, the two evils of human civilization – chauvinism and animal slaughter – come head to head in battle. Leah is loved by a devout vegan\, whose love is blind and obsessive. He turns violent when he learns that she slaughters cattle for a living. The cruel and the beautiful\, the shrewd and the bestial – are all fused together in a unique punk ballad. \n2015 | 10 min \n \nTour 1 \nDir: Myssa Daher \nMy work was influenced by growing up as fourth and youngest child in my family\, a sister to three older brothers. I grew up in front of the TV\, which made me restless and bored\, and so I invented imaginary games to entertain myself. I constantly wanted to go out on new adventures\, just like in the movies. Although by now I realize the difference between movies and reality\, this has had a great impact on my present confused and somewhat crazy personality. \n2014 | 5 min \n \nRehearsing the Spectacle of Spectres \nDir: Nir Evron & Omer Kriguer \nRehearsing the Spectacle of Spectres are the opening words of a poem written by Anadad Eldan (b. 1924)\, a member of kibbutz Be’eri who wrote librettos for kibbutz ceremonies\, holiday performances and agricultural pageants\, and also published numerous books of his own lyrical poetry. Evron and Krieger invited a group of kibbutz members to recite the 26 verses of this opaque and suggestive poem. \n2014 | 9:18 min \n \nFactory \nDir: Maya Geller \nFactory daily routine reveals a series of actions and the people behind it. Trying to pour meaning into empty flour sacks\, I became a diligent worker motivated by the factory’s flow; touching the material\, sifting\, processing\, letting it pass through me into the visual text presented to you. As a sterile organ I contained the dreams\, desires and erosion the factory holds within it. \n2015 | 12:30 \n \nGuava \nDir: Thalia Hoffman \n2048. On a road used by refugees\, between Jaffa-Tel Aviv and Beirut\, two refugees discuss love\, memory\, trust and forgetfulness. \n2014 | 12 min \n \nLast Person Shooter \nDir:  Boaz Levin & Adam Kaplan \nLast Person Shooter examines human and mechanical modes of vision. Through a series of historical scenes\, reconstructed as 3D architectural models\, the historical context and underlying concepts of machine vision are conjured. \n2014 | 12:40 min

After Delgado had locked two municipal museums with his own locks he was arrested. In jail he wrote the outlines for The Academy of the Contemporary. \nHe himself (poet)\, Rodriguez (painter)\, Maura (theater critic)\, Tilsa Tilsona (a character in a play) and other prominent characters in his writings and life\, became the first faculty of The Academy of the Contemporary\, which advocated the development of ways of learning\, researching\, writing and experimental creation. After Salazar’s revolution\, The Academy continued it activity in the underground “Lisbon” cinema theater\, at the Lisbon leper house. The spaces of The Academy in the Cinema hosted groundbreaking art exhibitions and a publishing house which published 35 books and manuscripts that are now lost. The last book that was published was a book on the history of The Academy of the Contemporary\, which was also an instruction book for the establishment of other academies of this kind. On the basis of this book we will gather in Mamuta in the upcoming year to develop a local version of The Academy of the Contemporary\, which will be called The Underground Academy. \nThe Academy of the Contemporary – sister to the Museum of the Contemporary – aims to maintain a channel for the exchange of knowledge\, learning\, research and production of projects in the field of art.  The Academy has only one department\, which is inherently trans-disciplinary\, in the hope that fights between faculty members will lead to the formation of new departments. The new academy is a center for continuing art study\, an institute of advanced studies\, an independent study group and an artists’ collective. The Academy’s activity will be inaugurated with a ceremony of awarding an honorary doctorate to João Delgado as well as four other figures that will be chosen with the new faculty members.

SUMMARY:מעמותה ופסטיבל הקולנוע ב"לה אירה דה דיוס" בואנוס איירסMamuta and the JFF at La Ira de Dios\, Buenos Aires
DESCRIPTION:At La Ira de Dios\, Buenos Aires \nPresenting a selection of Israeli Video Art from the “Intersections” of the Jerusalem Film Festival:\nIntersections (Israel Video Art)\nfrom the Jerusalem Film Festival – Expermiental Cinema and Video Art Award (2010-2014) \n\nCurated by Sala-manca artists group (Mamuta Art and Media Center)\nPresented by Diego Rotman \nOryctolagus Cuniculus |Keren Shavit | 2010 | 7′\nA group of men in long white coats congregate at the local community center basketball gym for the evaluation of 144 rabbits. The rabbit scoring highest in all categories is declared the winner. \nAmir Yartsiv | Detroit | 13′\nThe title of the video is borrowed from this training area in the country’s southern region. “Detroit” is a 1:1 simulation of a Palestinian city. The simulation generates an alternative reality which conceals the true reality. The training city “Detroit” was intended to prepare soldiers for combat in an urban area. It resembles a Muslim quarter\, thus meeting the users’ needs in a simulation which would furnish them with a fantasy of an Arab city. \nAmitai Arnon\, Esther Bires | Masks | 2014 | 12′\nThe film Masks was shot over 12 years during which Esther and Amitai documented two siblings at Purim festivities\, dressed up as different characters and embodying various roles. In Purim\, as in the carnival\, sacred and sanctified things are legitimately parodied. For 12 minutes a partial portrait of the children’s growing up is presented\, in states of abandon. Their adolescence and identity play is designated by the immediate surroundings of their life\, the Israeli town of Ramla – according to the national and religious timetable and the growing children’s life cycle during the film. \nOhad Fishof | ABDUCTION | 2010 | 8:34\nBased on an eponymous sci-fi story. Here\, it is man who abducts the alien\, and not vice versa.” The film and the story are a second part in a series of works\, “Hoon\,” which describes characters\, sites\, and events in the imaginary town of Hoon. \nDana Gillerman | Pornographic Collage | 2014 | 9:44\nTen women from diverse backgrounds were asked to watch a short porn film and\ndescribe what they see. The viewing is via computer\, filmed in Skype-like or porn-film style: intimate\, domestic and unpretentious. \nSally Krysztal Kramberg | Je te vois | 2013 | 1:38\nA video work that almost merges with the whiteness of the wall; a screwdriver emerges through a cardboard wall. The screwdriver pierces the surface separating it from the external world and opens a window that reveals nothing.
